Course content
1. Basic information sources and their classification. 2. Primary sources of information. Book information sources, professional and scientific periodicals of the field. Lectures and proceedings, diploma, dissertation and habilitation theses. Company literature, video programs, computer programs, internet information. 3. Information record - bibliographic record, cataloging record, bibliographic citation, ČSN ISO 690 and ČSN ISO 690-2, APA. Ways of bibliographic citation. Excerpts, annotations. 4. Secondary information sources, paper journals, internet databases, work with secondary sources information. 5. Processing of scientific professional texts. Content and formal requirements of scientific texts. 6. Types of diploma theses and their content definition - historical-comparative, cultural, empirical, linguistic, literary-scientific, methodical-didactic. 7. Information preparation of diploma thesis. 8. Literary research in the preparation of the diploma thesis and its function. Elaboration of the diploma thesis topic, formal division of the diploma thesis. 9. Requirements of empirical diploma theses - research problem and its formulation, type of research problem, characteristics of the research field, formulation of partial goals, research questions and research hypotheses. Types empirical research. 10. Analysis of individual parts of the diploma thesis. Rules valid for the preparation of figures, graphs, tables and more graphic components published in professional texts. 11. Reviews of diploma theses, their structure, focus, evaluated elements. 12. Defense of diploma thesis and its course.

Learning outcomes
The seminar acquaints students with the generally valid principles of preparation, implementation and organization of the thesis, both in terms of form and content.
The student is familiar with primary and secondary information sources, can use information sources and database tools for literary research and information preparation of the thesis. The student masters and applies formal rules for the creation of diploma theses and other professional texts. He is able to conceive the research design of his diploma thesis, carry out research, process data, adequately interpret them and discuss the obtained results. The student is able to prepare the defense of his diploma thesis and respond to the comments of the thesis supervisor and the opponent in the reports.
