Course content
1. Introduction to the study, course content, exam requirements, study literature. 2. Control of the organism, human nervous system. Human senses. 3. Hormonal control of the human body. 4. Digestive system, specifics of childhood. 5. Human excretory and genital system. 6. Human support and muscular system. 7. Muscular system, types of muscle. 8. Heart, blood vessels, vascular circulation. 9. Blood and immunity. 10. Human respiratory system, skin. 11. Ontogenetic development before birth and after birth with emphasis on the period of childhood. 12. Health and healthy lifestyle. 13. Prevention of injuries in the primary school environment. 14. First aid.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills in the field of somatology and first aid as a basis for forming positive attitudes of future teachers to their own health, fellow citizens' health and lifestyle choices and as a starting point for studying other disciplines in the curriculum. The content of the course forms the basis of human anatomy and physiology, emphasis is placed on the characteristics of individual organ systems with regard to the specifics of the child's body. The course includes segments devoted to medical prevention and first aid.
The student describes the basic principles of anatomy and physiology of human organ systems and explains their specifics in the context of childhood. Orients in the issue of ontogenetic development of man and health prevention. Describes the anatomy of the human body on models and corresponding illustrations. Masters the basic skills associated with providing first aid.

The course does not require any specific prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria

Active participation in the seminar to the appropriate extent defined by UJEP regulations. Successful completion of the credit test and elaboration of a semester work.
