Course content
1. The oldest period of Czech history. 2. The Sámi Empire and Great Moravia. 3. Premyslid Bohemia. 4. The Czech Kingdom until 1306. 5. The Kingdom of Luxembourg. 6. Hussitism and the post-Hussite period. 7. The rise of the Habsburgs and the Bohemian Empire until 1618. 8. Czech state in the Habsburg monarchy. 9. The Czech state during World War I and post-war development. 10. Czech lands during the Second World War and development in 1945-1948. 11. Czechoslovakia in 1948-1968. 12. Czechoslovakia during the period of normalisation and an overview of developments after 1989. 13. Current developments in the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with significant historical events in Czech history up to the present day. Students should thus gain an understanding of the development of Czech society in a pan-European context and the causes and consequences of the actions of the Czech political representation. Chapters on the history of Czech culture, economy and history of administration will be included.
