Course content
1. Introduction to the study, course content, credit requirements, study literature. 2. Pedagogical research. 3. Work with literature, critical approach to information. 4. Research design, types of research. 5. Research problem, research questions, hypotheses. 6. Problems of creating research tools, reliability and validity. 7. Qualitative research. 8. Analysis of data obtained by qualitative research. 9. Quantitative research. 10. Basics of statistical data processing. 11. Appropriate approaches to the presentation of results. 12. Discussion as a part of research text. 13. Presentation of proposed research projects.

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the basics of research in the social sciences. It presents the most frequently used research approaches, draws attention to their advantages and disadvantages. It leads students to acquire skills associated with creating the design of their own research project. The course accompanies the basics of research work at all its levels. From the choice of topic and literature search, through the selection of research methods to the analysis of results and their subsequent discussion. It also serves students in preparation for the creation of their qualification work.
The student will design a research project that can be implemented in a pre-school education environment. It defines the research problem and research questions, and creates hypotheses for quantitatively oriented research. It explains the difference between qualitative and quantitative research, draws attention to their strengths and weaknesses. Can determine the reliability and validity of a research tool. Masters the basics of data analysis, both those obtained qualitatively and quantitatively. It presents the results of its research and discusses them in the context of the relevant scientific field.

Assessment methods and criteria

Active participation in the seminar to the appropriate extent defined by UJEP regulations. Successful completion of the credit test and elaboration of a semester work.
