Course content
The seminar focuses on the following areas: 1. Basic information sources and their classification. 2. Primary sources of information. Book information sources, professional and scientific periodicals of the field. Lectures and proceedings, diploma, dissertation and habilitation. Company literature, video programs, computer programs, internet information. 3. Information record - bibliographic record, cataloging record, bibliographic citation, ČSN ISO 690 and ČSN ISO 690-2, APA. Methods of bibliographic quote. Excerpce, annotation. 4. Secondary information sources, papers, Internet databases, work with secondary sources of information. 5. Processing of scientific expert texts. Content and formal elements of scientific texts. 6. Types of diploma theses and their content definition - historical-comparative work, cultural, empirical, linguistic, literary-scientific, methodological-didactic. 7. Information preparation of the diploma thesis. 8. Literary research in the preparation of the diploma thesis and its function. Processing the theme of the diploma thesis, formal division of diploma thesis. 9. Elements of empirical diploma thesis - research problem and its formulation, type of research problem, characteristics of the research field, formulation of partial goals, research questions and research hypotheses. Types of empirical research. 10. Analysis of individual parts of the diploma thesis. Rules applicable to the preparation of pictures, graphs, tables and other graphic components published in professional texts. 11. Reviews of diploma theses, their structure, focus, evaluated elements. 12. Defense of the diploma thesis and its course.

Learning outcomes
The seminar introduces the students to the generally applicable principles of preparation, implementation and organization of the diploma thesis, both in formal and in content terms.
Achieved knowledge and skills: The student is oriented in primary and secondary information sources, can use information sources and database tools for literary research and information preparation of the diploma thesis. Students master and apply formal rules for the creation of diploma theses and other professional texts. It is able to design the research design of its diploma thesis, to carry out research, to process data, to adequately interpret and discuss the results obtained. The student is able to prepare the defense of his / her diploma thesis and to respond to the comments of the supervisor and the opponent in the opinions.
