Learning outcomes

The subject provides a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills in the field of somatology and anthropology. It includes the basics of human anatomy and physiology (linking to the lessons learned at high school), basics of human genetics, developmental biology and hygiene. Emphasis is placed on ontogenetic development and anatomical and physiological age specificities in younger school age. The subject is the basis for the study of other disciplines in the study curriculum (eg psychology, sociology, environmental issues, etc.). Seminars are designed to explain the more difficult parts of anatomy, physiology and human genetics. Practical exercises in human biology are also practiced within the seminar. Through anthropometric and physiological measurements, future educators get basic information about the indicators of their personal health, which is a motivating factor for shaping their positive attitudes towards their own health, children's health, and choosing a lifestyle that promotes health.
The student will be able to assess the biological development of the child in relation to his / her chronological age, will be able to meet his / her basic biological needs, which are a necessary prerequisite for meeting the higher needs and will be able to feel the problems of children caused by health handicap, chronic diseases or acute health problems. He will be able to justify the principles of a healthy lifestyle to his pupils and contribute to his / her creation.
