The course is to familiarize PhD students with basic issues of empirical research of pedagogical phenomena (research hypotheses, research sample, validity, reliability) and then with both traditional and less traditional methods and specific techniques that are used in both quantitative and qualitative empirical research of pedagogical phenomena . This is eg. For observation, scaling, questionnaires, interviews, experiments, content analysis of texts, Q-methodology, semantic differential, sociometry etc. PhD with the given methods familiar in theory, but the emphasis is on the practical application (especially in relation to the topic of the dissertation). The course also aims to acquaint doctoral students with the fundamentals of statistical processing of survey data using descriptive and inductive methods of statistical analysis.
