Course content
1. Origin, development, and the subject of somatopedia, upbringing and education as a part of comprehensive care for individuals with health disabilities 2. Central nervous system diseases - overview of child cerebral palsy: spastic forms, diparetic, hemiparetic, and quadruparetic child development 3. Child cerebral palsy - non-spastic forms 4. Other health disabilities connected to children cerebral palsy 5. Causes of child cerebral palsy, risk factors 6. Rehabilitation and therapy for children with cerebral palsy. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. 7. Inflammation and tumours in the brain, brain trauma, spinal cord palsy, peripheral palsy. 8. Dystrophy and myopathy of the bone muscles 9. Neural tube defects - spina bifida occulta, meningocele, meningomyelocele, hydrocephalus, microcephalus, anencephalous, exencephalus 10. Psychological aspects connected with a disability 11. Speech disabilities, communication, and socialization of individuals with health disabilities 12. Early care for children with health and physical disabilities. Specifics of education of disabled (health and physical) children and youth 13. Special didactic methods in the education of physical and physically disabled individuals I. 14. Special didactic methods in the education of physical and physically disabled individuals II.

Learning outcomes
This subject requires basic knowledge (at the high school biology level) of somatology, namely the anatomy of the CNS, psychomotor development of the individual, and the basics of embryology. This subject is focused on the characteristics, definition, etiology, and possibilities of compensation, re-education, and rehabilitation for various types of physical and health handicaps. The meaning and goals of somatopedia, as a part of special education dealing with the education and development of individuals with various somatic and medical disabilities. Syndromes of the central paresis are concretized in this subject, mainly child cerebral palsy, its forms, psychomotor development of an individual diagnosed with child cerebral palsy, and therapeutic and rehabilitation approaches. Special attention is dedicated to other types of physical disabilities, such as peripheral palsy, myopathies, malformations, neural tube defects, etc. Curricular, legislative, and didactic issues of education of pupils with physical disabilities in the CZ are discussed in detail.
