Course content
1. History of psychiatry 2. Psychological and social theories of mental diseases. Social psychiatry. 3. Selected mental functions disorders (consciousness, perception, intelligence, memory, emotions, etc.) 4. Dementia 5. Psychic disorders caused by the use of psychoactive substances 6. Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders 7. Reaction to serious stress and adaptation disorders 8. Specific personality disorders 9. Mental retardation, psychic development disorders, and specific development disorders 10. Behavioural and emotional disorders in childhood 11. Legal stance of mentally ill individuals 12. Rules of approach to mentally ill individuals 13. Credit test

Learning outcomes
The study of psychiatry is focused on the basics of psychiatry and psychopathology, the classification of mental disorders and their treatment. Students will acquire knowledge about behaviour disorders caused by psychoactive substances, about neurotic disorders, stress related disorders, somatoform disorders, etc. They will also gain a basic overview of treatment approaches and follow-up resocialization and rehabilitation in psychiatry.
During the course of study, listeners will gain an overview of psychiatry (both general and special). They gain a basic overview of the manifests of behaviour of individuals with mental and psychiatric diseases, and of the possibilities of medical influence, resocialization, and reintegration.
