Learning outcomes
The purpose of this subject is to introduce its students to basic research issues (hypothesis, research file, validity, reliability), and with traditional methods used both in quantitative and qualitative research. These are, for example, observation, scaling, questionnaire methods, interview, experiment, text content analysis, etc. Students are familiarized with the methods on a theoretical level, but the emphasis is also put on their practical application. Emphasis is also put on the familiarization of students with the basics of the statistical processing of research data.
Students are familiar with the methods on the theoretical level, but the emphasis is also put on practical application. The subject is also focused on familiarizing students with the basics of statistical processing of research data. Students are to understand the basics of philosophical and propaedeutic research phenomena in education. They can characterize different research methods and techniques. Students are able to develop their own basic design of qualitative and quantitative research studies (formulation of a problem, research goals, formulation of hypothesis, relevant selection of a research sample, adequate choice of methods and techniques). Students are able to operate with the basic statistical data processing procedures in order to be able to evaluate the results of the research and to interpret them in a valid manner.
