Learning outcomes
This course is focused on familiarizing its students with the basic problematics of research (hypothesis, research sample, validity, reliability) and traditional methods, that are being used in both qualitative and quantitative research. These are, e.g., observation, scaling, questionnaire methods, interview, experiment, contentual text analysis etc. Students are familiarized with these methods on a theoretical level, but the emphasis is also put on their practical application. This subject is also focused on the familiarization of its students with the basics of statistical processing of research data.
Students are able to create a basic research design for both qualitatively and quantitatively oriented research study (formulation of a research problem, setting up goals for research, hypothesis formulation, research sample selection, adequate choice of methods and techniques). Students are able to control the basic approaches to statistical processing of data and are able to evaluate the results of research and interpret them in a valid way.
