Course content
1. The creation and significance of O.Messiaen and J.Cage for the development of post-war music. 2. Creation and significance of representatives of the Darmstadt school. 3. Creation and significance of the Polish post-war avant-garde. 4. Creation and significance of the post-war avant-garde of the USSR countries. 5. Personalities of musical minimalism, spectralism, etc. 6. Musical postmodernism.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquire detailed knowledge about the development of European and Czech music after the Second World War. Látka pays close attention to changes in social conditions and their influence on the stylistic, genre and ideological aspects of musical creation and on the main personalities of the post-war avant-garde.
The student is able to explain the developmental regularities of the most modern musical styles of the post-war development against the background of European and domestic social conditions. It has mastered the meaning and main contribution of the work of the most important composers and the specificity of their musical language.
