Course content

1. Social conditions in Europe and the Czechoslovakia after the Second World War and their influence on composers' work. 2. The work of composers of the pre-war generation (Mondays and unclassified). 3. Traditionalism and modernism in Czech music of the 1950s. 4. Influence of New Music styles and techniques on the domestic music scene. 5. Portraits of the main personalities of the Brno and Prague groups (Camerata, Atelier, Quatro, etc.).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to acquire detailed knowledge about the development of European and Czech music after the Second World War. Látka pays close attention to changes in social conditions and their influence on the stylistic, genre and ideological aspects of musical creation and on the main personalities of the post-war avant-garde.
The student is able to explain the developmental regularities of the most modern musical styles of the post-war development against the background of European and domestic social conditions. It has mastered the meaning and main contribution of the work of the most important composers and the specificity of their musical language.
