Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to expand students' knowledge of Czech and European music from the first half of the 20th century. In the form of listening with professional commentary and subsequent discussion, students expand the listening experience gained from previous musical historical subjects. In addition to historical genres, the course provides a listening orientation in the genres of non-artificial music.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills: The student is able to explain the developmental features of musical styles of the past and their compositional changes in the first half of the 20th century. It develops its listening skills of orientation in modern compositional directions and, through the discussion following listening, codifies its own evaluative views and views on the variability of compositional aspects and means of expression of the musical development of the recent past. An important cognitive aspect is the fact that the compositions presented here are not a frequent part of the concert repertoire and their promotion is especially important for music popularizers.
