Course content
1. Modern popular music: characteristics and overview. 2. The roots of modern popular music in the USA at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. 3. Development of modern popular music in the first half of the 20th century. 4. Development of modern popular music in the 1960s. 5. Development of modern popular music in the second half of the 20th century (from the 70s - middle stream MPH, dance scene). 6. Development of modern popular music in the second half of the 20th century - (since the 70s - rock music). 7. Development of modern popular music in the second half of the 20th century - film and musical, stage forms. 8. Development of modern popular music in the second half of the 20th century - (since the 70s - fusion with other music genres and ethnic music, reggae, world music. 9. Development of modern popular music at the beginning of the 21st century. 10. Different types of fusions of modern popular music with other stylistically genre types of music.

An overview of the development of modern popular music (MPH) from its roots to contemporary music production. Developmental disability and breadth of genre. Terminology. Popular music as art - social phenomenon (generational protest, active participation) - music industry, dissemination depending on media development - trade. Disability of specifics and differences of modern popular music x classical music. Mergers, penetrations of MPH into other musical and artistic fields. Evaluation issues.

Assessment methods and criteria

Demonstration: - orientation in issues (terminology, music genres, overview of recommended music material including listening test, overview: creators, performers, institutions, key recordings, festivals, surveys), orientation in the developmental stages of the development of world PH (typical means of expression , instruments, sound ideal, key recordings and events) in connection with social and political development in the broad sense of the word. 75% attendance, active participation in seminars, elaboration and presentation of a selected topic in terms of popularization, successful completion of a listening test and demonstration of knowledge of the selected topic, the ability to debate the topic in a qualified manner.
