1 / Study literature and music periodization of the given time period. 2 / Early, high and late romanticism and its representatives. 3 / Classical-romantic synthesis of German music in the second half of the 19th century. 4 / French music in the second half of the 19th century. 5 / Development of opera in Europe in the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. 6 / French impressionism and its representatives. 7 / Expressionism and the Second Viennese School. 8 / Neofolklorism and its representatives. 9 / Civilizational tendencies in European music and the Paris Six. 10 / New materiality and P. Hindemith. 11 / Other great personalities of European and American music in the first half of the 20th century. 12 / Development trends of European music in the second half of the 20th century. 13 - 14 / Final discussion and summary.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to gain detailed knowledge about the developmental patterns of music history in the 19th and 20th centuries, to acquire detailed knowledge about the life and work of important personalities of world music. Basic information about the dominant musical genres, types and forms, harmony of various contemporary artistic trends with musical development, listening to representative musical examples of the epoch.
The student is able to explain the developmental features of musical stages and directions in the context of the social features of individual epochs, understands the meaning, period contribution and musical language of great personalities. It also shows practical listening experience and orientation in the music of individual creative stages and the individual legacy of the leading masters of musical development of the cited period.
