Course content
1. Beginning teachers of Czech - theory and research of school practice. 2. Teacher in a literary education class, the meaning and goal of literary education at primary and secondary schools. 3. Current methodology of literary education at primary and secondary schools. Curriculum revision, methodological cabinets, inspection activities. 4. Pupils' approaches to reading a literary text and methodological recommendations (professional literature, methodological handbooks, internet resources). 5. Current approaches to the development of reading and reading literacy. 6. Reading strategies. 7-8 Possibilities of interpretation of poetic and prose texts and contemporary works rewarded for creation for children's and adolescent readers. 9. Creative drama in literary education. 10. Current research of literary education lessons at primary and secondary schools. Qualitative and quantitative studies, basic, applied and action research. 11-12 Objectives and procedures of pupil evaluation in literary education.

Learning outcomes
The course develops didactic skills of students preparing for the teaching profession, especially subject competencies. The program of lectures and seminars is focused primarily on addressing issues of the goal, content, system, forms and methods of teaching literature. Emphasis is placed on literary education inspired by structural theory and methodology, reader-oriented theories, constructivism and creative expressiveness. In the course, students build on the knowledge from previous studies of subject didactics (prerequisites) and the experience gained during pedagogical practice.
