Course content

1. Stylistics - style. Basic terminology of the field. 2. Style - language style: Language discourse. Stylistic process in relation to the communication process. 3. Classification of language styles. Functional style concept. 4. Construction of language discourse and style: stylistic phenomena of thematic construction and textual division (stylistic techniques - horizontal and vertical division of text). 5. Stylistic differentiation of language means - basic phenomena associated with it. 6. Stylistic differentiation of phonological means. 7. Stylistic differentiation of morphological means. 8. Stylistic differentiation of lexical and word-formation means. 9. Stylistic differentiation of syntactic means. 10. - 11 .. Description and characteristics of professional, administrative, journalistic, rhetorical, artistic, communicative functional style. 12. Current developmental tendencies in Czech stylistics.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic terminological system of stylistics and to deepen, expand and systematize their existing knowledge of language phenomena, develop their ability to analyze the text in terms of style and apply the acquired skills in the process of analysis of construction and style of concrete language expressions. The lecture is focused on the basic areas of contemporary Czech stylistics.
