Learning outcomes
The course provides students with a basic insight into contemporary theories of film adaptation, thematizes various methodological starting points for the study of literature in film and observe film adaptations in a broader cultural and historical context. A widespread approach to adaptations that follows this phenomenon in terms of the so-called "fidelity to the original" will be demystified. Theoretical background will be tested in interpretive practice, emphasis will be put on working with specific literary texts and their film adaptations. Important works of Czech and world literature, or cinematography.
