1. Introductory lecture; characteristics of the subject. Credit and exam requirements. 2. Definition of the term morphology, morphology as a linguistic discipline, the relationship of morphology to other disciplines. 3. Morphological characteristics of Czech. The word from the morphological point of view and from the point of view of other disciplines. 4. Morphemics. 5. Basic criteria for defining word classes. Grammar categories of higher and lower order. 6. - 7. Grammatical categories of nouns. 8. - 9. Grammatical categories of verbs. 10. Inflexible parts of speech. 11. Boundaries between word classes - overlaps and conversions. 12. Developmental tendencies in the morphology of today's Czech. Approaches to the morphology of today's Czech in contemporary grammar handbooks.

Learning outcomes
|
The discipline includes the interpretation of parts of speech, functional and formal morphology. Morphological characteristics of Czech, theory of part of speech and functions of individual grammatical forms in Czech are the content of lectures. The lecture is thus focused on the presentation of the functional morphology of the Czech language and the seminar on formal morphology and the formation of proper forms of flexible words. Students practice the nomination of parts of speech and the use of noun and verb standard forms.
