Course content
|
1. Basic professional literature devoted to methodological problems of research, basics of quantitative research and statistical processing of research data. Reading researches in the Czech Republic since 1993. 2. Quantitative (and qualitative) research. Terminology. Inspiration in the search for a research problem, methodological background. Area, topic, research goals, research problem and research questions. Working hypotheses. Research schedule. Research sample, its characteristics. Data acquisition strategies, data analysis strategies. 3. Data collection (questionnaire), their cleansing, conversion of answers into an Excel spreadsheet, data processing. 4. - 5. Interpretation of data, formulation of partial findings.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with representative research on reading in the Czech Republic (both with their results and with the progress of research efforts). During the seminars, a small quantitative research of selected reading activities is carried out, the data are interpreted and partial findings are presented (possibly compared).
