Course content

Seminar topics: 1. Contemporary Czech and its language culture. Language culture and speech culture. 2. Professional discussion on the issue of language culture (based on current literature). 3. Maxims of successful communication. 4. Speech techniquse. 5. Voice power modulation, voice tone modulation, time modulation, voice color modulation and its use in public speech. 6. Types of public speeches with regard to the situation and intention of the author. 7. Conditions for successful presentation of public speech. 8. Presentation of public speech: lecture on a given topic. 9. Analysis of selected speeches (wedding ceremony, mourning speech, graduation speeches of students). 10. Listening to examples and their analysis in terms of language culture: artistic presentation (stage speech), spoken news, teacher's monologue. 11. Types and importance of nonverbal communication in school teaching. 12. Requirements for speech culture of teacher.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the discipline is to improve the quality of students' ability to speak, to teach them the correct speech techniques and the significant and proper use of prosodic tools in their own speech. The student is able to take into account the verbal and nonverbal (choice of vocabulary, wording, argumentation, standard) requirements for cultivated speech.
