Language subsystems (levels) and their relations. Diachrony and synchrony. 5. Written form of language, writing systems, ortography and its development. 6. Spoken form of language and pronunciation. 7. Czech national language and its social and regional stratification. 8. Standard language and its stratification. 9. Non-standard units of the national language and their relations to standard Czech. 10. Common Czech. 11. Usage. Standard and codification of standard Czech. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of individual language levels (their units and relationships), expand their knowledge of linguistic terminology, provide them with a brief insight into basic linguistic disciplines, with which they will thoroughly acquaint, clarify and develop their existing knowledge of language. The seminars are devoted to the consolidation of theoretical knowledge and their application to their own language expressions and in the linguistic analysis of contemporary discourse.
