In the introductory course lessons, students get acquainted with the central paradigms of literary interpretation methodologies (based on reading professional texts), seminars in the second half of the course focus almost exclusively on the development of practical interpretive skills. Attention is gradually focused on the interpretation of various literary genres (e.g. folk books, poetry by J. Vrchlický, K. Toman, V. Holan, short stories by J. Neruda and J. Škvorecký, cliftonians from the Digital Archive of Popular Literature ÚČL), and students confront their interpretations of the meaning of literary texts and, together, they try to find an interpretation field that would correspond to the "meaning" of the studied works. The members of the group get to know with each other's observations, even over-interpreting ones, they look for proper support in the text for their statements, they discuss their opinions.
