The course introduces students to fundamental cultural-historical and sociopolitical events, concepts and phenomena of today in English-speaking countries. The course not only introduces students to the issue, but also places it in a broader historical context so that students gain awareness of the defining themes and values of the Anglophone world and understand their significance for the development of these countries. At the end of the semester, students should acquire the following knowledge and understanding: - acquire important data on cultural-historical and social phenomena in English-speaking countries - understand the basic cultural-social values of these countries and be able to place them in the broader cultural development - be able to express their views on current social issues in these countries - learn basic facts about these countries and be able to lead a discussion about them
