The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the current literary development in the Anglo-American world and in the world in general based on a critical analysis of selected literary examples/works. This course further develops students' critical thinking, which is one of the basic prerequisites for successfully passing the state final exam. Together with the mandatory elective course A Collection of Literary Theories, it completes literary studies in this field The analysis and interpretation of selected works is based on critical studies of contemporary prose, poetry and drama, as well as those works that are selected in connection with the requirements for the state final exam. One of these requirements is the ability to compare different stages of literary development in the USA and the UK. The student will thus have the opportunity to take another look at significant stages of literary development, to look for, for example, points of contact and differences in the development of British and American literature. This view of the entire development of literature will enable a deeper critical evaluation of selected stages of literary development in the light of contemporary literary criticism. Students will thus fine-tune their preparation for the state final exam, especially in terms of literary criticism.
