Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Fundamentals of management, basic managerial roles and processes. 2. Personnel management - career planning, legislative requirements for staffing of health services, requirements of health insurance companies for staffing of health services, administration of Annex 2. 3. Quality management of health services, risk management in the provision of health care, safety of health services. 4. Marketing of health services. 5. Basic aspects of health policy. 6. Objective managerial decision-making tools, decision-making techniques, decision-making process, techniques applicable in management. 7. Multi-source financing of health services, subsidy procedure. 8. Ethics in the work of a manager, ethics of providing health services (system approach). 9. Time management, delegation, meeting management, presentation in the work of the manager.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with specific areas of management that are used in the provision of health services. The study thematically builds on the basics of management and economics, which were the content of the corresponding subjects in the bachelor's degree, and expands them. The subject is mainly the following topics: regulatory mechanisms in the field of nursing, marketing of health services, quality management, standards development, preparation of audited surveys, risk and emergency management, major areas of social medicine and health policy, managerial ethics, decision-making process in manager's work, tools of objective managerial decision-making, the problem of organization of working time, team cooperation, legal issues of providing health services (especially standards related to health management).
Expertise: Students will know the basic techniques of objective managerial decision-making, as well as mathematical tools used for effective planning of health services and resource allocation. They will know the legal system of the Czech Republic, they will be able to find legal norms that are related to the provision of health services and will be familiar with them. After completing the course, they will know the marketing techniques used in health care. Professional skills: Students will be prepared to perform current tasks that they will encounter in the organization in the field of nursing services. They will be able to work together to develop nursing standards; be able to evaluate quality in nursing - they can prepare an audit on a given topic; understand techniques for evaluating the quality of nursing care; understand the link between quality and risk and emergency management in nursing. They will master the basic techniques in the analysis of health services provided, evaluation of their effectiveness and the choice of appropriate management techniques with respect to the desired result. In the field of personnel management, they will be able to plan the careers of non-medical health professionals in accordance with the legislative requirements for the qualification of staff and staffing of individual workplaces. Competences: Students will be able to work at the middle management level in medical institutions and use in their work tools based on scientific methods and best practices.

Assessment methods and criteria

Colloquial examination - a group interview focusing on the mastery of a certain management tool by a specific student. In the case of a mathematical tool of managerial decision-making, a written test of the calculation of a model example. At least 80% participation in lectures and seminars, elaboration of seminar work in case of non-limit participation.
