The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit for midwives who care for a woman during her life. The course is part of a complex of basic vocational subjects for midwifery. It acquaints students with the latest knowledge about ultrasound examination of a woman, which is becoming increasingly important in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. Great attention is paid to the principle of ultrasound device, its safety, use in practice and of course recognition of physiological and pathological ultrasound finding. The aim of the course is the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in real contact with women.
Expertise: The student demonstrates basic knowledge in the field of physiological ultrasound finding in a small pelvis of a woman, is able to reproduce the finding and explain it to a woman clearly. The student demonstrates basic knowledge in the field of pathological ultrasound finding in a female pelvis. Student demonstrates wide knowledge in the field of physiological ultrasound finding of fetal, placental and amniotic fluid development, is able to recognize physiological finding from pathology. He is able to simply describe the woman and explain it clearly The student demonstrates basic knowledge in the field of pathological ultrasound finding of fetal development, placenta and amniotic fluid. Professional skills: The student is able to use an ultrasonic device to determine the number of fetuses, to evaluate fetal viability, to determine the fetal position, to recognize physiological and pathological amounts of amniotic fluid. General competences: The student is able to communicate comprehensibly and convincingly to the woman about the nature of professional problems and to propose their solution
