Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction to health law, definition of medical law and its importance 2. Legal regulation of health services and basic legal principles 3. Hierarchy of health legislation 4. Human rights issues and constitutional order 5. Ethical aspects of health care provision and their legal significance 6. Basic rights and duties of a health care professional 7. Position, rights and obligations of the patient in the system of providing health services 8. Legal aspects of providing health services and obligations of providers 9. Basic prerequisites for the profession of health care professional 10. Appropriate professional level (providing lege artis care) 11. Patient autonomy and its limitations in providing health services 12. Protection of personality and privacy in health care 13. Medical documentation 14. Legal aspects of specific health services 15. Legal aspects of health control activities and health care activities 16. Labor law issues 17. Legal liability of health service providers and healthcare professionals 18. Final summary, current legislation and case law in health care

Learning outcomes
Obtaining a basic overview and orientation in the legal regulations of medical law and related fields related to the organization and provision of health services with an emphasis on practical application of acquired knowledge. Knowledge of the basic legal institutes of medical law, the position of the patient in the system of providing health services, rights and obligations of patients, as well as the conditions of limiting their application, responsibility relationships, can significantly influence the patient's involvement in the decision-making process in the provision of health care, increase the legal literacy of individual actors thus contribute to improving the quality of health services provided.
Expertise: The student is able to describe the basic rights and obligations of the health service provider, the health care worker and the patient, the position of the patient in the system of providing health services, the basic legal aspects of their provision. They can explain the process of decision-making autonomy and its limitations, as well as the process of shared decision-making of a patient in health care. The student can explain the influence of knowledge of basic legal aspects on the process of providing health services, their quality and risk prevention in their provision Professional skills: The student knows and respects the principles of legal liability of the health service provider and the prevention of their risks General competences: The student will understand the relationship between the legal system of the Czech Republic and the EU and the relationship of legislative and executive power in the system of health and social care.
