Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. week: Publishing ethics: copyright law, citation norms. 2. week: Dealing with e-catalogue of the UJEP library, search using the depository of STAG. 3. week: Introduction into data analysis: Gaussian curve, population parameters, statistic hypotheses, the level of importance. 4. week: Selected examples of statistic tests: Couple t-test (Excel - command TTEST). 5. week: Selected examples of statistic tests: Double selection t-test (Excel - command TTEST). 6. week: Selected examples of statistic tests: Type chi-quadrant (Excel - command CHITEST). 7. week: The basics of linear regression and correlation: the model of regressive line (Excel - commands INTERCEPT, SLOPE). 8. week: Research realized at the FHS, a visit to the laboratory.

Learning outcomes
The subject extends the scope of research methods. It covers the rules of publishing and continues with selected options of statistic analyses of obtained information. The particular aim of the subject is providing the students with practical guide for the bachelor's project development. 1. Basic terms (research / research, basic / applied research, qualitative / quantitative, experiment / investigation). Questionnaires - standardized questionnaires, pilot surveys. 2. Types of clinical trials and studies, ethical aspects, copyright law, citation standards, GDPR 3. NursingOvid database, citation database available at UJEP (Web of Science, SCOPUS). 4. Specifics of midwifery research: research strategy, research priorities for the 21st century. 5. Qualitative approaches to research in midwifery. 6. Observation, grounded theory, content analysis. 7. Case study. Publishing and presenting results.
Subject Knowledge: Students know the rules of research activities in all its stages from planning to processing and result publishing, and they also know the citation norms. Professional Skills: Students can use the computer for a basic data analysis.
