Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Definition of the basic nomenclature. 2. Legislative framework of inclusive education. 3. Current goals of NAPIV (National Action Plan for Inclusive Education). 4. Inclusive education as an extension of the integration education system. 5. Fields of special pedagogy in the context of inclusive education I. 6. Fields of special pedagogy in the context of inclusive education II. 7. Examples of good practice (USA, Finland). 8. Examples of good practice (USA, Finland). 9. Defining a contemporary inclusive strategy. 10. Defining a contemporary inclusive strategy. 11. Defining a contemporary inclusive strategy. 12. Possibilities of implementing inclusive education. 13. Possible barriers to the implementation of inclusive education. 14. Use of teaching assistants in an inclusive education system. 15. Contemporary practice of inclusive pedagogy in the Czech Republic. 16. Contemporary practice of inclusive pedagogy in the Czech Republic. 17. Basic methodology in inclusive practice. 18. Course evaluation and recommendations for practice. Seminar topics: : (3 hours/week) 1. Introduction to the issues of special pedagogy. Definition of the term, subject, goal of special pedagogy. Special pedagogical fields and their characteristics. Related scientific disciplines. Interdisciplinary relations. Historical development of special pedagogy and the present. Paradigms of special pedagogy. (5 hours) 2. Principles and methods in special pedagogy. General and special special pedagogical methods. Principles in the upbringing and education of individuals with special educational needs. Comprehensive care for individuals with disabilities. (5 hours) 3. Etiology of disabilities. Types of developmental disorders. Internal and external teratogenic factors, their relationship and share. (2 hours) 4. Family of a handicapped child. Attitudes of parents towards the affected child. Diversity of educational approaches. (3 hours) 5. The system of care for individuals with special needs. Early care for disabled children, its specifics. Educational system in the Czech Republic in terms of individuals with special educational needs. The principle of complexity in the care of disabled individuals. The issue of employment of disabled individuals. Current trends in the care of individuals with special needs. (2 hours) 6. Education of special pedagogues and basic competencies of a special pedagogue

Learning outcomes
The course introduces students to the issues of special education and inclusive education. It will provide students with a basic special pedagogical concept. Students will get acquainted with individual special pedagogical disciplines, basic methods and principles of special pedagogy, the system of special pedagogical care for individuals with disabilities. Students will gain basic information about the field of special pedagogy and get acquainted with its special pedagogical disciplines. They are informed about the causes of disability, individual methods and principles of educational work for individuals with special needs with emphasis on the influence and importance of the family.
Expertise: The student is well oriented in the field of special education and inclusive education; knows the basic characteristics of pupils with special educational needs according to individual types of disabilities. Professional skills: The student is able to use the acquired knowledge in the education of pupils with SEN (special educational needs) in the position of a pedagogical worker; has theoretical knowledge of inclusive education of pupils with SEN. Competences: The student is able to use them in practice in the individualization and differentiation of teaching.
