Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. week: The importance of psychoprophylaxis (PP) for a woman and her motherhood Historical facts about the development of PP in the world and in the Czech Republic 2. week: Topic selection for a preparational course PP. The structure of individual lessons, methodology 3. week: The importance of movement for a pregnant woman, suitable activities and exercises used in PP structure of an exercising unit 4. week: The maternity hospital: when, what to prepare, how to get ready for leaving for the maternity hospital. The birth plan: the help of a birth assistant during plan preparation 5. week: Birth pain management; facilitating techniques training, massages and relieving positions 6. week: Aromatherapy and its effects on a woman, application possibilities before and after the birth 7. week: A newborn and and his/her appearance in the family

Learning outcomes
Prebirth preparation is a practical subject, where the students apply theoretical knowledge from other key subjects of midwifery into practical activities. The basis is preparation of a woman for motherhood and helping her to handle pregnancy, birth, a six-week period including the caring after a newborn. The selection of sufficient topics for the education of a woman, the selection of techniques for practical cooperation of a birth assistant with a woman and her partner plays an important role in education
Subject Knowledge: Student defines the importance of prebirth training, its aim and content. Student understands methodical preparation of the prebirth training course. Student has enough specialized knowledge to be able to run the prebirth course Professional Skills: Student creates the prebirth course methodology Student prepares suitable movement activities for pregnant women Student can provide facilitating techniques training
