Course content
Exercise Topics: 1. Integrated rescue system, crisis management, disaster medicine, legislation. 2. Organization of pre-hospital emergency care. General principles and procedures of first aid provision, urgent resuscitation algorithm for adults and infants and newborns. 3. Head injury. Unconsciousness. Injuries to the spine, joints and bones. 4. Injury of chest and abdomen. Bleeding. Rival. 5. Effects of heat and cold on human organism. Corrosion. 6. Electric shock injury. 7. First aid in sudden internal states. 8. Dressing technique, wound care, bleeding. 9. Immobilization techniques. The position of the wounded. Transport. 10. Crass syndrome. Blast syndrome. Poisoning. 11. Drowning. Choking. Anaphylactic shock. 12. Animal injury, insect injury.

Learning outcomes
The subject is both theoretical - practical and it´s part of a group of subjects based on clinical practice. Students will acquire knowledge, skills and principles for providing lay and pre-medical first aid for acute and health-threatening conditions resulting from an accident or a sudden worsening of the disease. Students are acquainted with clinical conditions that immediately threaten human life, including specific procedures that lead to its rescue. Part of the course is knowledge of legal and organizational issues of first aid, organization of disaster medicine, emergency care and crisis management.
Expertise: Student knows o describe the principles of first aid and urgent pre-hospital care o describe the cooperation and tasks of the individual components of the integrated rescue system o enumerate and define quantitative and qualitative changes in consciousness, breathing and circulation, depending on the underlying cause o List and describe individual life-threatening conditions and sudden events o define the degree and extent of damage to the body caused by the effect of heat, cold and electric current Professional skills: Student knows o Assess the situation and perform a basic examination of the injured o Check the basic life functions of the injured o Identify symptoms that indicate a serious health disorder o Recognize the symptoms of various internal injuries o Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest best practices o Bandage technique for treatment and bleeding o immobilization techniques in joint and bone injuries o place the victim in the required position and prepare for transport, recognize the symptoms of the onset of shock and take anti-shock measures

80% attendance in seminars and 80% success by written test. Credit will take the form of written test and verification of practical skills.
