Seminar Topics: 1. week: Integrated rescue system, crisis management, medicine of catastrophes, legislation. 2. week: Organisation of pre-hospitalization and non-suspensive care. General rules and procedures of providing first aid, algorithm of non-suspensive resuscitation of an adult and a child. CPR of a new-born child and an immature new-born. 3. week: Head injuries. Unconsciousness. 4. week: The injuries of a spine, joints and bones. 5. week: The injuries of a chest and an abdomen. Bleeding. Shock. 6. week: The effects of warmth and cold on a human organism. Acid burning. The injuries caused by electric current. 7. week: First aid during sudden internal states. 8. week: Bandaging technique, treatment of wounds, stopping of bleeding. 9. week: Immobilization techniques. Positions of an injured person. Transporting. 10. week: Crass syndrome. Blast syndrome. Poisonings. 11. week: Drowning. Suffocation. Anaphylactic shock. The injuries caused by an animal, insect.

The subject is theoretically-practical and it is the part of the group of subjects, which are based on clinical training. Students will get the knowledge, skills and rules for providing lac and premedical first aid for acute and health threatening states, which may occur because of an accident or sudden complication during the illness. Students are introduced with the clinical states, which are threatening for human life, including specific procedures, which lead to life saving. One part of the subject covers the issues of legal and organisational problems emerging while providing the first aid, about the organisation of medicine dealing with catastrophes, immediate care and crisis management.
Subject Knowledge: Student is able to describe the rules of providing first aid and non-suspensive prehospitalization care describe cooperation and the task of individual units of the integrated rescue system name and describe individual life-threatening states and sudden accidents define the level and extent of damage in the organism caused by the effects of warmth, cold and electric current name and define quantitative and qualitative changes of consciousness, breathing and blood circulation considering the cause Professional Skills: Student is able to identify symptoms, which are signalizing serious health disorder perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest recommended procedures apply bandaging techniques to treat wounds and stop bleeding apply immobilization techniques for joint and bone injuries put the injured person into stabilized position and prepare him for transporting, identify symptoms of upcoming shock and then perform anti-shock precautions
