Lecture Topics: 1. week: Introduction into obstetrics 2. week: Birth routes, skeletal pelvis, soft birth routes 3. week: Hormonal regulation of pregnancy 4. week: Pregnancy and its diagnostics 5. week: Physiological changes in organism of a pregnant woman 6. week: Position of the foetus in the uterus at the end of pregnancy 7. week: Spontaneous birth.The definition of birth according to the WHO, birth dates, birth guided by a doctor 8. week: Birth forces 9. week: Birth mechanism, foetus as an object of birth 10. week: Physiological six -week period, lactation 11. week: New directions in obstetrics Seminar Topics: 1. week: Care after a pregnant woman in I. trimester of gravidity 2. week: Care after a pregnant woman in II. trimester of gravidity 3. week: Care after a pregnant woman in III. trimester of gravidity 4. week: Beginning of the birth and admitting a mother-to-be into the delivery room. 5. week: Care after a mother-to-be in I. period of birth 6. week: Care after a mother-to-be in II. period of birth, the first treatment of a new-born 7. week: Care a mother-to-be in III. period of birth and in after-birth period 8. week: Care after a woman in the six -week period including consulting 9. week: Care after the psychical state of a woman in the six-week period 10. week Care after a breastfeeding woman in the six - week period 11. week: Care after a mother-to-be outside the medical facility

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as theoretical and practical, and it provides the students with complex set of facts from the area of caring after a woman in reproduction period, especially a pregnant woman, mother-to-be, woman in a six - week period and new-born children. The subject consists of obstetrics as a theoretical part, including anatomy and physiology of the reproduction system of a woman, the physiology of pregnancy, birth and after-birth periods. One part of the subject is the system of practical seminars, which are the basis for a complex body of specialized subjects. The aim of the subject is professional training of a birth assistant ensuring providing practical nursing processes and care after a woman during motherhood.
Subject Knowledge: Student describes hard and soft birth routes.Student understands the rules of conception including its hormonal regulation. Student describes the changes in the organism of a woman during pregnancy. Student describes the birth and the six-week period. Professional Skills: Student gathers anamnestic data in the pregnancy pass. Student informs a pregnant woman about the appropriate life regime. Student provides specific care for a mother-to-be and a new-born child. Student explains a woman in the six- week period the importance of breastfeeding.

It is subject to the fulfillment of Obstetrics and Clinical Examination.
