Lecture Topics: 1. Ischemic and bleeding strokes Vertebrogenic disease - prolapse of intervertebral disc, degenerative stenosis, olistosis 2. Brain tumors in adults and children, tumors of spine and spinal cord 3. Craniocerebral trauma, spinal cord injury 4. Infectious diseases of the nervous system Peripheral nerve injuries, strait syndromes 5. Hydrocephalus in children and adults, normotensive hydrocephalus 6. Degenerative diseases of the nervous system (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Exercise Topics: 1. Overall patient assessment in neurology (physical examination, consciousness assessment). Examination methods in neurology (preparation of the patient for examination, monitoring after examination). 2. Nursing care for a patient with stroke 3. Nursing care for a patient with vertebrogenic disease. Nursing care for patients with tumor of the brain, spine, spinal cord. 4. Nursing care for a patient with multiple sclerosis. Nursing care for a patient with epilepsy. Nursing care for a patient with migraine. 5. Nursing care of a patient with degenerative diseases of the nervous system (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). 6. Nursing care of a patient with normotensive hydrocephalus.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is conceived as theoretical and practical. It introduces students to clinical conditions and diseases affecting the nervous system that may occur during the life of a woman. Particular attention is paid to those women who may experience pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium. The student is comprehensively acquainted with the causes, pathogenesis, symptomatology, diagnosis and treatment of the most common neurological diseases, including highly specialized nursing care provided by the nursing process.
Expertise: The student knows the causes, etiology and symptoms of individual diseases of the nervous system, knows the basic procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases and is able to describe the specifics of nursing care for a woman with neurological disease. Professional skills: The student is able to elaborate a plan of nursing care in the context of specific neurological diseases, elaborate an educational plan for patients and pregnant women with selected neurological diseases. General competences: The student is able to use professional knowledge and professional skills in the implementation of all stages of the nursing process while ensuring care for a woman with neurological disease.
