Seminar Topics: 1. week: Overall evaluation of a patient in neurology (physical examination, consciousness evaluation). Examination methods in neurology (preparation of patient for an examination, after examination monitoring). 2. week: Nursing care after a patient with a brain stroke 3. week: Nursing care after a patient with vertebrogenic disorder. 4. week: Nursing care after the patients with brain, spine, spinal cord tumours. 5. week: Nursing care after a patient with multiple sclerosis. 6. week: Nursing care after a patient with epilepsy. The subject is theoretically-practical and it introduces the students with the clinical states and disorders of a neural system, which can appear during the life of a woman. The special focus is put on those disorders of a woman, which can appear in relation to pregnancy, birth and six-week period after the birth. Students get complex knowledge of the causes, pathogenesis, symptomatology, diagnostics and treatment of the most common neurological disorders including high-level specialized nursing care provided in a form of a nursing process.
Subject Knowledge: Student knows the cause, ethiology and symptoms of the neural system disorders. Student knows basic procedures of diagnostics and treatment of neurological disorders. Student is able to describe the specifics of nursing care after a woman with a neurological disorder. Professional Skills: Student is able to create a plan of a nursing care in the context of the neurological specifics. Student is able to create an educational plan for the patients and pregnant women with selected neurological disorders.
