Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Recommended procedures in nursing. 2. Organization of the nurse's work, treatment unit and its components, patient environment. 3. Nursing process in hygiene care. 4. Nursing process in nutrition care. 5. Nursing process in the care of defecation. 6. Nursing process - saturation of basic necessities. 7. Nursing process - drug application. 8. Nursing process - application of injections. 9. Nursing process in the care of physical activity. Seminar topics: 1. Recommended procedure for introduction and care of peripheral venous cannulation. 2. Recommended procedure for central venous cannulation care. 3. Recommended procedure of nursing care for a patient / client with infusion therapy. 4. Recommended procedure of nursing care for a patient / client indicated for parenteral nutrition. 5. Recommended nursing care procedure for the patient / client indicated for transfusion therapy. 6. Recommended nursing care procedure for a patient / client with impaired skin integrity. 7. Recommended stoma care procedure. 8. Recommended procedure of nursing care for the patient / client before and after puncture. 9. Recommended procedure of nursing care for the patient / client before and after endoscopic examination.

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical and practical. The content of the course forms the core of the professional skills of general nurses and belongs to the complex of basic professional subjects. The student will have theoretical knowledge to perform dependent and independent activities of the nurse, on the basis of which he will be able to perform services in accordance with applicable legislation for general nurses. Individual nursing procedures and techniques are taught in accordance with the principles of the nursing process and the holistic approach to nursing care.
Expertise: The student has theoretical knowledge to perform practical nursing services in accordance with the competencies of a general nurse according to applicable legislation. The student is able to describe the nursing procedures in individual areas, their importance, preparation and patient care before, during the procedure / activity and after the procedure / activity. The student is able to describe the negative effects of incorrectly performed nursing procedures on human health. Professional skills: The student practically demonstrates individual nursing procedures. The student demonstrates manual skill in performing practical tasks and techniques in the field of dependent, independent and cooperative activities of the nurse with regard to individual needs and patient safety. Competences: The student is able to clearly and convincingly provide the patient with information about the nature of professional problems and propose solutions.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit: Min. 80% active participation in consultations. Passing the credit test min. to 75% - verification of theoretical knowledge. Exam: Oral - Verification of practical professional skills by developing and presenting the recommended procedure of nursing care for the patient / client + practical instruction.
