Course content
Topics of lectures: 1. Hygienic requirements for the construction of medical facilities (hereinafter MF) 2. Hygienic requirements for the operation of MF 3. Hygienic requirements for the environment of MF 4. The process of spreading infections in MF 5. Infections associated with health care and their prevention 6. Preventive and repressive anti-epidemic measures in health care 7. Disinfection and sterilization, hand hygiene 8. Health protection during handling of chemical substances in MF 9. Health protection during eating in MF 10. Health protection when handling laundry and waste 11. Health supporting hospitals 12. Legislation in the protection of public health Seminar topics: Elaboration of disinfection rules MF Elaboration of operating rules of the department, ambulance Elaboration of rules for handling chemical substances Scheme of internal audit of HE at the department, outpatient clinic Measures in case of infectious disease in MF Checking the effectiveness of sterilization

Learning outcomes
The subject is focused on the application of knowledge from the fields of microbiology, epidemiology and hygiene, obtained by bachelor and master studies in non-medical fields to the conditions of protection and support of health in healthcare facilities and the application of prevention principles in their management.
Expertise: The student is able to describe and explain the principles and fundamental requirements for construction (location, division, technical provision of buildings and areas where health care is provided) and operation of health care facilities in terms of creating a healthy and health promoting environment. Student knows the conditions of transmission of infectious agents in HC and appropriate preventive measures. Professional skills: The student is able to elaborate quality management plans in health care facilities in terms of hygiene and epidemiology, elaborate disinfection rules, program and actual implementation of control of sterilizers and disinfectors effectiveness, analysis of occurrence of healthcare associated infections and preventive measures for their control.
