Lecture Topics: 1. The beginnings of the philosophical grasp of the world. Definition of philosophy and ethics, basic philosophical categories. 2. Morality in society. Basic ethical theories 3. Relationship between ethics and law. 4. Protection of human rights and human dignity. Introduction to the history of medical ethics. 5. Ethics of dying and death. 6. Ethical problems at the beginning of life. Embryo status. 7. Ethical problem of surrogate motherhood. Seminar Topics: 1. Contemporary ethical principles. 2. Hippocrates tradition, Jewish-Christian tradition, modern philosophical directions. 3. Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine. 4. Ethical codes and prerequisites for their acceptance. Patients' rights and their role in humanization of medicine. 5. Communicating the truth in a hospital bed. Survival counseling. 6. Problems of assisted reproduction. 7. The issue of abortion. Children's rights. Pregnancy loss.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to understand the value system (belief, belief), which forms the basis of the professional behavior of Midwives, to understand the point of the change in the relationship between the healthcare profession - patient and his family; to get acquainted with the basic philosophical categories, to understand the connection between philosophy, medicine and midwifery. Provides information about ethical aspects in midwifery. It introduces the integration of ethical principles into the Code of Ethics and touches on ethical dilemmas in the behavior and behavior of health professionals towards clients - patients of all ages, including seniors and their families. Involved in the formation of character traits, contributing to freedom of thought and speech.
Expertise: Students know the basic of philosophical and ethical concepts with an emphasis on stimuli that influence and participate in shaping the professional ethics of a nurse. Professional skills: The student is able to clarify the principles of contemporary ethical codes used in health care, which are subsequently specified in the discussion and independent work of students in selected problems of ethics in health care.
