Lecture Topics: 1. week: Introduction to pedagogics and didactics as science; pedagogical principle and the rules of education 2. week: Terms, aims, functions of education 3. week: Alternative methods of education, evaluation of the educational process 4. week: Methods and principles: primary, secondary and tertiary education, the role of an educational nurse 5. week: Relation between the educational process and the nursing process, the competence of a nurse in an educational field Seminar Topics: 1. week: The methods of educational process creation for a specific patient, documentation of an educational process 2. week: Educational needs of a patient, educational anamnesis, planning of education forms and tools 3. week: Preparation and realization of an educational session, evaluation of educational efficiency 4. week: Preparation and realization of an educational session, evaluation of education efficiency 5. week: Preparation of educational material and the selection of methods; education for primary, secondary and tertiary forms

The subject is theoretically-practical and it is focused on providing basic knowledge of pedagogics and didactics. In relation to the nursing process and knowledge from clinical fields the students are taught didactic methods and procedures for educational influence on an individual, family and community in care after own health and prevention of diseases. Students will also learn how to use the educational process in balance with a nursing process. They will learn how to create and apply an educational program based on educational anamnesis; perform evaluation of the education process.
Subject Knowledge: Student is able to explain the terms and relations between the educational process and the nursing process, explain and define primary, secondary and tertiary education name competencies of a nurse in the field of education and explain the role of a nurse - educator, define pedagogical principles and rules of education, define terms, aims and function of education, explain the terms of educational process evaluation, alternative education methods, explain the specifics of education of the elderly, children and people with special needs. Professional Skills: Student is able to plan an educational process for a specific patient create an educational anamnesis, research and find out educational needs of a patient is able to prepare and realize an educational session using suitable educational methods considering the patient's condition evaluate the efficiency and results of an educational process / perform evaluation in primary, secondary and tertiary education prepare educational materials and methods of education. manage documentation of an educational process

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit requirement is 80% active class attendance and writing an acceptable seminar project. The students will create an educational process for a specific patient in a seminar project. The project will prove that the students have theoretical knowledge of didactics and pedagogics and they are able to apply it into education covering health care. The subject is finished with an oral exam.
