Lecture topics: 1. Basic philosophical categories, basic ethical theories, ethical principles 2. Medical ethics, sources of nursing ethics, codes of ethics, human rights and patients' rights, bioethics 3. Ethics of dying and death, euthanasia, dystanasia, palliative care 4. Ethical problems of organ transplants, genetics, plastic surgery 5. Reverse, informed consent, previously expressed wishes 6. Ethics of research in medicine and nursing Seminar topics: 1. Ethics of responsibility, dignity, ethics of virtues 2. Ethical issues of early life - assisted reproduction, embryo, abortion 3. Ethical issues of caring for a sick child 4. Ethical aspects of care in intensive care units 5. Ethical issues in the care of cancer and dying patients, issues of pain and suffering 6. Learning outcomes
|
The course provides information about ethics, its relationship with other scientific disciplines, ethical aspects of nursing. It introduces the integration of ethical principles, touches on ethical dilemmas in the actions and behavior of health professionals towards clients - patients of all ages, deals with the approach to their loved ones. Participates in the formation of character traits, contributes to freedom of thought and expression. The aim of the course is to gain the knowledge necessary to understand the values and search for ways to solve ethical problems that the student encounters in professional and personal life. This course aims to realize the individuality and authenticity of each person, which form the basis of professional behavior of general nurses.
Expertise: Students know the basic philosophical and ethical concepts with emphasis on the stimuli that influence and contribute to the formation of professional ethics of the general nurse. Professional skills: The student is able to clarify the principles of current codes of ethics used in health care, which are then specified in the discussion and independent work of students on selected issues of ethics in health care. General competences: The student is able to apply theoretical knowledge in natural conditions, is able to communicate with the client and members of the medical team, acts in accordance with ethical procedures.
