Lecture Topics: The First Consultation: Nursing care for the patients with periodontal disease Nursing care for the patients after tooth extraction Nursing care in gerontostomatology. Health education and oral health preventive programs in the Czech Republic. Self-Study: Nursing care for a client in restorative (preservative) dentistry Nursing care for the patients with prosthetic replacements Nursing care in pediatric dentistry Nursing care for a patient with a tumour at the base of the mouth and tongue

Learning outcomes
The course extends the knowledge in the field of professional clinical nursing in the oral care. It introduces preventive care in dentistry for children and the adults and the most common clinical conditions and diseases of the oral cavity. It highlights the importance of nursing profession in the field of health education programs on a variety of oral health issues.
Subject Knowledge: The student can describe the role of nurses in oral care. The student can describe the role of nurses in the prevention of oral disease. The student can explain the specifics of nursing care for the most common clinical conditions in dentistry. Professional skills: Students can practivcally examine and assess the condition of the oral cavity. The student can practically implement basic and special oral hygiene. Students can design an educational program focused on health education covering oral health issues.
