Course content
Seminar Topics: 1. week: Introduction into special pedagogics (subject, aims, methods, terminology, individual fields of special education, system of education, advising). 2. week: Logopaedics (introduction, classification and the aetiology of speech defects, therapy, specifics of education of individuals with lower communication ability). Alternative and augmentative communication introduction into the types of AAK, examples. 3. week: Surdopaedics (introduction, classification and the aetiology of defects, therapy, specifics of education of individuals with hearing impairment). 4. week: Typhlopaedics (introduction, classification and the aetiology of defects, therapy, specifics of education of individuals with vision impairment). 5. week: Psychopaedics (introduction, classification and the aetiology of defects, therapy, specifics of education of individuals with mental impairment). 6. week: Somatopaedics (introduction, classification and aetiology of defects, therapy, specifics of education of individuals with body impairment), etopedics (introduction, classification and the aetiology of defects, therapy, specifics of education of individuals with behavioural disorders). 7. week: Partial deficiencies (introduction, classification and aetiology of defects, therapy. specifics of education of individuals with non-partial deficiencies), combined disorders.

Learning outcomes
Subject introduces the students with basic findings in individual fields of special education. It allows the students to fulfil one the requirements for their future profession: the care after medically and mentally handicapped patients. It also teaches communication and recognition processes.
Subject Knowledge: Thanks to the theoretical knowledge the students are able to characterize individual fields of special education, use professional terminology related to the topics, they are able to describe basic educational procedures for individual types of impairment, they are aware of the importance of empathic approach towards the clients and their family members Professional Skills: Student is able to suggest environment changes, didactic tools, toys and rules of child's games for individual types of impairment. Students are able to apply theoretical knowledge into training.
