Seminar topics: 1st consultation: Introduction to the problem - evidence-based practice (EBP). Evidence-based nursing (EBN) historical view, definitions, situation in the Czech Republic and in the world. 2nd consultation: Critical assessment and search for clinical problems. Formulation of clinical issues. Finding the best evidence by type of clinical question. Working with search engines (AND, OR, NOT). Searching in Czech databases, searching e-catalogs of the library

Learning outcomes
|
Students will acquire the basic knowledge of the problems of practice based on evidence applied in nursing. The aim of the course is to teach students to determine the clinical question and to search and analyze found evidence using the available databases and to suggest the best evidence for clinical practice.
Expertise: Students can describe the phases of the evidence-based nursing process. Students can formulate a clinical question using the PICOT format. Students know terminology related to publishing activities. They have an overview of available bibliographic databases and databases containing aggregated health data. Professional skills: Students will be able to perform researches independently and will be able to obtain data from publicly available databases for work in the development of the project according to the specified clinical question in selected issues. Students will be able to evaluate found evidence and suggest best practices for clinical practice.
