The subject is theoretically-practical. It is a part of complex set of subjects which belong to clinical health care. It introduces some clinical states and diseases in surgical fields from the view of health care and patients' needs which are changing according to a surgical disorder. It characterizes clinical states, their aetiology, symptoms, diagnostics and treatment in abdominal, pectoral and vascular surgery, cardiosurgery, urology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics and traumatology, plastic surgery and burns. The part of the subject is the basic ground for aesthetics, gerontosurgery and children's surgery.
Subject Knowledge: Student is able to define the rules of diagnostics and treatment of selected surgical diseases. He knows the symptoms and treatment of individual types of surgical diseases, he knows the specifics of the preparation for individual operations. He knows the symptoms and treatment for post-operational complications. He is aware of the specifics regarding surgical care after children and the elderly. Professional Skills: Student can prepare the patient for a surgical examination, an operation. Student is able to identify post-operational complications and he knows how to treat them. He is able to provide a complex health care to the patients with a selected surgical disorders and he is aware of the content of work in various department and fields of surgery. |

Requirement for the credit is at minimum 80% class attendance, personal active approach and interest in the field, writing an acceptable seminar project: a case study from the field of health care for each semester based on the instruction of the supervisor, an oral exam. |
