Course content
Seminar topics: 1. Integrated rescue system. 2. Crisis management. 3. Disaster medicine, legislation. 4. Organization of pre-hospital emergency care. 5. General principles and procedures for providing first aid. 6. Algorithm of emergency resuscitation in an adult. 7. Algorithm of emergency resuscitation of a child and newborn. 8. Immobilization techniques. 9. Positions of the injured. Transport. 10. Crass syndrome. Blast syndrome. Poisoning. 11. Drowning. Choking. 12. Anaphylactic shock. Injury by animal, insect. Exercise topics: 1. Basic emergency resuscitation - basic vital functions, their disorders, summoning professional help, communication with the operating center; procedure after the arrival of professional help. 2. Basic emergency resuscitation of an adult - examination of an unconscious victim, checking vital signs, airway patency, monitoring the victim's condition, recording information. 3. Basic emergency resuscitation - emergency resuscitation of children. 4. Use of AED in CPR and external defibrillation. 5. Basics of bandaging technique. 6. Immediate first aid for bleeding. 7. First aid for thermal trauma, electric shock, chemical trauma. 8. First aid for injuries of the musculoskeletal system - sprains, dislocations, fractures (open and closed), fixation, manipulation of the affected person, improvised transport. 9. Bleeding (arterial, venous, capillary; external, internal), arrest of bleeding. 10. Model situations: sudden non-traumatic disorders of consciousness (vasovagal collapse, arrhythmia, emergency states in diabetes, hypo-hyperglycemia, convulsive states - epilepsy, febrile convulsions; intoxication). 11. First aid for selected non-traumatic emergencies. 12. Procedure in the event of a large number of wounded, CBRN, transport equipment.

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as theoretical and practical. Student acquires basic knowledge of first aid for various health-threatening and damaging conditions. The subject also includes knowledge from disaster medicine, emergency care and crisis management (activation of components of the Integrated Rescue System).
Expertise: The student can - describe the principles of providing first aid and urgent pre-hospital care, - describe the cooperation and tasks of the individual components of the integrated rescue system, - list and define quantitative and qualitative changes in consciousness, breathing and blood circulation depending on the provoking cause, - list and describe individual life-threatening conditions and sudden events, - define the degree and extent of damage to the organism caused by the effect of heat, cold and electric current. Professional skills: The student can - assess the situation and perform a basic examination of the injured, - check the injured persons' basic vital functions, - recognize symptoms that signal a serious health disorder, - recognize the symptoms of various internal injuries, - perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest recommended procedures, - bandage technique for treating wounds and stopping bleeding, - immobilization techniques for joint and bone injuries, - put the affected person in the necessary position and prepare him for transport, recognize the symptoms of an oncoming shock and carry out anti-shock measures. General qualifications: The student is able to practically use individual nursing procedures when working with a patient in a medical facility.
