Course content
Lecture Topics: The First Consultation: Introduction: organization and issues of contemporary pediatrics. The Second Consultation: Pharmacotherapy in childhood. The Third Consultation: Pathological newborn. The Fourth Consultation: Diseases of the respiratory tract. Diseases of the digestive tract. Diseases of the endocrine glands and growth disorders. The Fifth Consultation: Excretory system diseases. Diseases of hematopoiesis. The Sixth Consultation: Children's Oncology Seminar Topics: The First Consultation: Administering medication to children. Nursing process for children with inflammatory respiratory diseases, diarrhea, constipation, the care for dehydrated states. The Second Consultation: Nursing process for children with congenital malformations The Third Consultation: Treatment of physiological newborn The Fourth Consultation: Nursing process for children with urinary tract infections and kidney function in children with diabetes and epilepsy. The Fifth Consultation: Nursing process for children with anemia The Sixth Consultation: Nursing process for children with leukemia Self-Study The growth and development of a healthy child. Hospitalization of the child and the Charter of Rights regulating children's hospitalization. Physiological newborn. Child's nutrition (breastfeeding, vitamins). Congenital malformations, inheritance.

Learning outcomes
The subject is focused on the treatment of children and health care under the condition of being healthy and sick. It is especially focused on the developmental patterns, the peculiarities of the child's reactivity and diverging course of the disease. The course is based on the knowledge of anatomy, physiology and internal medicine for the adults and it highlights the major traits of childhood illnesses. The content also includes the issues of the first aid in the most common severe life-threatening conditions when dealing with children.
Students are introduced to nursing of childrena and medical care in their health and illness. Specially they focus at dvelopmental legality, specialities of child creativity and at different process of illness. They learn to ways of first care of the most often serious life threatening states at child age.
