Lecture Topics: 1. week: Introduction to paediatrics organization and issues. The growth and development of a healthy child, nutrition. 2. week: Pharmacotherapy in child's age, infectious diseases in child's age 3. week: Respiratory system diseases, dermal diseases 4. week: Heart, blood and blood circulation diseases. Kidneys and urinary system diseases. 5. week: Digestive system diseases, gland with inner secretion diseases. 6. week: Disbalances in inner environment, immunity and allergic diseases. 7. week: Diseases of neural and muscular system. Most common vision, hearing and speech disorders. 8. week: Sudden states in paediatrics. Resuscitation of a new born and older child. Seminar Topics: 1. week: The specifics of the nursing process at the child's department and physical examination of children. 2. week: Medication intake for children, evaluation scale in paediatrics 3. week: Nursing process for a child with pain, CAN syndrome (a discriminated and neglected child) 4. week: Developing appropriate psychological condition, game activities for children in medical facilities 5. week: Nursing process for a child with respiratory system inflammation, diarrhoea, constipation. 6. week: Nursing process for a child with urinary system and kidneys diseases. 7. week: Nursing process for a child with diabetes mellitus, epilepsy

Learning outcomes
|
The subject is theoretically-practical and it provides the students with a complex knowledge of caring after a child. It is focused on caring after children and providing medical care for them for healthy and disease states. The clinical part of the subject is focused on basic anatomical and physiological features of the children's age and follows the knowledge received studying anatomy, physiology, first aid and nursing procedures. Theoretical part is focused on studying anatomical and physiological differences of a child, the harmony of a child's body, spiritual and social development including preventive care.
Subject Knowledge: Student is able to differentiate and name individual development periods of a child's year, he is able to explain anatomical and physiological peculiarities of a child's organism, he can describe the differences in child's nutrition in development periods, he can valuate the condition of a child using different scales and name the rules and complications related to individual performances and operations applied in training. Professional Skills: Student is able to evaluate teh overall state of a child, choose and work with correct scaling technique and method for a child considering the age, he can realise a nursing process in its individual phases, while taking into account the age and individual uniqueness of each child, he can choose correct process and technique during medication application and he can evaluate the amount of accident risk in child's age.
