Course content
Lecture Topics: The First Consultation: Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, vertebral disease: slipped disc, degenerative stenosis, olisthesis. The Second Consultation: Brain tumors in adults and children, spine and spinal cord tumors, craniocerebral trauma, spinal cord injury. Seminar Topics: The First Consultation: Overall assessment of the patient in neurology sister (physical examination, assessment of consciousness). Diagnostic methods in neurology (preparing a patient for testing, monitoring after examination). Nursing care for patients with stroke in an acute, subacute and rehabilitation phase. Self-Study: Infectious diseases of the nervous system Peripheral nerve injuries, entrapment syndromes Hydrocephalus in children and adults, normal-pressure hydrocephalus. Nursing care for the patients with degenerative diseases of the nervous system. Nursing care for the patients with seizure disorders (epilepsy, migraine).

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretically-practical unit. It is a part of a complex set of subjects from clinical nursing. It introduces clinical states in terms of nursing care and the needs of patients changed by the illness that affects the nervous system and which significantly affects the quality of human life.
Subject Knowledge: The student knows the causes, etiology and the symptoms of various diseases of the nervous system. The student knows the basic procedures for diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases. The student is able to describe the specifics of nursing care for the patients with neurological disease. Professional Skills: Students can develop the plan of nursing care in the context of the specifics of a neurological disease. Students can develop an educational plan for the patients with selected neurological diseases.
